Hello!
I have been a terrible blogger and all around communicator for the last few months. Well, honestly, ever since this new site launched I have been utterly consumed with writing the books, touring, and all around PUBLISHING STUFF and have been very lax about updating things here.
Well, that is all about to change!
Hopefully.
I’ll be going through and adding a bunch of extra material, a lot of it from guest posts I did for the Dark Triumph Blog Tour. Some of it may be old hat for some of you, but for those of you just finding your way here, it will be new. So feel free to poke around, especially in the World of His Fair Assassin section where you’ll see I’ve added the long promised information about the mythology of the Nine Old Saints of Brittany. Deleted scenes from both Grave Mercy and Dark Triumph will be coming along shortly I’ll be sure and mention it here on the blog when I do.
I am also vowing to stop being so quiet in here. For some reason, when I moved from blogging on my old middle grade website to here, I sort of clammed up. Not sure why, exactly, although I think some of it had to do with flailing around in the YA waters and trying to get the hang of this whole new YA world.
But I think I have my feet under me properly now (although watch: that’s nearly as good as taunting the gods so I’m sure I’ve just jinxed myself) and hope to do better in the future.
Part of it was thinking that mostly readers would be visiting here, and when I blog I tend to blog about writing or the writing process and I was afraid that would be Too Much Information for readers. However, after having hung around in the YA world for a while now, I’m seeing that most of those who visit author websites are either interested in writing for themselves, or looking for a peek into the writer’s process. Also? That’s the topic I get the most amount of email on–how to write, so I am going to try and unmuzzle myself.
Also, for those of you on Tumblr, I’m over there as well. I was having fun initially, sharing pictures from my inspirational folder, but then got worried because I didn’t always know the source of the photos, so I’ve kind of slowed pulled back from that. However, I do like the format a lot–it’s the perfect platform to kind of spill the contents of my mental junk drawer–and I will continue to use it, I’m just not sure how exactly, yet. I might start using it for smaller posts that don’t quite warrant their own full fledged blog post.
We’ll see how that goes. But I am also on a squeaky tight deadline for Book Three, so if I don’t follow through please know it’s likely because Book Three has eaten my brain.
